Privacy Policy

Your letters stay private. I can’t see what you write.

Last updated: 29 December 2025

Overview

Dear Future Me lets you write letters to your future self and choose when they unlock. The app is built to be private by default. I don’t run my own servers for your letters, and I can’t see what you write inside the app. Your content lives only on your devices and in your own iCloud account (if enabled).

What the App Stores

The app stores the data it needs in order to work:

This information is stored in your app data on‑device and, if enabled, in a private iCloud database linked to your Apple ID. It is not sent to any server that I control.

What I Collect

I do not collect or have direct access to:

I never see your letters unless you choose to share them with me yourself (for example, by emailing screenshots or text when asking for help).

I also don’t embed advertising SDKs or third‑party tracking libraries in the app.

On‑Device & iCloud Storage

Dear Future Me uses Apple’s technologies for storage and sync:

I don’t have access to your iCloud account or its contents. Managing access to that data is done through your Apple ID and iOS settings.

In‑App Purchases & RevenueCat

Dear Future Me offers optional one‑off in‑app purchases (for example, early unlocks for specific letters). These purchases are handled by:

Neither Apple nor RevenueCat receive the contents of your letters. They only handle purchase and entitlement data necessary for the app to know what you’ve bought.

Analytics & TelemetryDeck

Dear Future Me uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy‑focused analytics service, to help understand how the app is being used and improve it over time.

TelemetryDeck collects minimal, anonymous information such as:

What TelemetryDeck does not collect:

All data sent to TelemetryDeck is anonymised and cannot be traced back to you as an individual. TelemetryDeck is GDPR-compliant and does not use this data for advertising or share it with third parties. You can learn more about TelemetryDeck’s privacy practices at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Notifications

The app can use notifications to remind you when a letter unlocks, or for similar prompts that you choose.

Your Control Over Data

Within Dear Future Me:

You can also manage backups and iCloud data for the app from your Apple ID and iCloud settings on your device.

Children’s Privacy

Dear Future Me does not require sign‑up or identity information and doesn’t send letter contents to my servers. The app is not specifically targeted at children, but it can be used by them under appropriate supervision. If you’re a parent or guardian and have concerns about content stored on a child’s device, you can manage it directly on their device and through iCloud settings.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may change as the app evolves. When it does, the updated version will appear on this page and the Last updated date will be revised. Major changes may also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
